A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM COACH SHEEBA

How Are You?

Hello Sheeba,

How are you?

The world and the workplace has changed exponentially in the past few weeks. This is a challenging and confusing time for many.  Teams are leaning into their leaders more than ever. Leaders are learning to demonstrate vulnerability and their humanity with their employees. Parents are juggling homeschooling and working. Business owners are uncertain about how they will sustain over the next couple of weeks.

So what is the best way for a good leader to utilize this time as an opportunity without being opportunistic?

First and foremost, I recommend that you be patient with yourself.  We are learning a new normal and adjusting to the work-from-home mandate.  It will take time to get it right and things may occasionally falter. So, stay patient and make time to acknowledge what is happening and what you are learning in the midst of this pandemic.

Look for innovative ways to maintain productivity; learning a new skill or tackling a project you've been putting off.  Look into the many free resources that are being offered to businesses to see if there is support you can take advantage of, and then assess if you have a resource you can provide to others in need.

Another important consideration is the well being of your team.  Everyone is missing their recreational activities, birthdays and other events, and time with their loved ones. Check in on them, being as vulnerable as you can. Ask them how you can support them. Work together to find a schedule that feels manageable and productive.  Make time to connect via video conferencing. We could all use a little more contact and connection during this social distancing/shelter-place/quarantine times we are in right now.

Take a minute to ask: How are you?

How Well Do You Lead?

Leadership is having the desire and ability to develop and grow in your response-agility to people and situations you find yourself in every day. When you are able to do this effectively, you are able to expand your leadership presence, communicate effectively, listen deeper, and develop those around you.

However, how well do you lead?
