Vision and Planning for Success
As leaders, success is rarely a matter of chance—it’s the result of intentional vision and strategic planning. At the start of a new year, it’s the perfect time to reflect, refocus, and set the foundation for the goals you want to achieve. This month, let’s explore how creating intention can transform your vision into a meaningful roadmap for success.
Why Vision Matters:
Your vision serves as your compass. It gives direction to your actions. Even the most ambitious goals can feel scattered or disconnected without a clear vision. A strong vision helps you define your "Why" and keeps you intentional around the activities, decisions, and people you will be involved with and in. In essence, it clarifies your priorities. It becomes easier to filter out distractions and rabbit trails. A strong vision helps to keep your teams committed to the direction that is outlined.
While a vision gives you the “what,” intention gives you the “how.” Setting daily or weekly intentions helps make those big-picture goals you have into actual steps you can take to reach that goal. It’s the commitment to align your mindset and actions with your vision.
Steps to Create Vision and Intention
-
Reflect on Your Purpose Ask yourself what you want to achieve, and why does it matter?
-
Align Actions with Intentions At the start of each week, ask yourself, "Which actions will bring me closer to my vision?"
-
Review and Adjust Regularly Success isn’t a straight line. Schedule time for reflection to celebrate wins and adjust your plan as needed on your journey.
There are a few practical steps you can take to help with keeping vision and intention at the front of your mind. Use a daily journal and write down 1-2 intentions each morning to keep yourself focused. Prioritize your calendar to make sure it reflects your priorities (not just your obligations). Share your vision with your team. When others see your "why", it may help them want to help contribute to the "how". It always helps to bounce ideas off others and hold each other accountable.
Vision and intention are key to successful leadership. Your vision sets the destination, while your intentions fuel the journey. As you move through this beautiful new year, remember: It’s not just about achieving goals—it’s about leading with clarity, purpose, and alignment.

New Training Offering: The 6 Types of Working Genius

This year, I will be adding a new training to my services. As you probably know, there are many assessments out there that help people understand themselves, their personalities, and how they show up at work. So, what makes Working Genius different?
Working Genius is 20% personality assessment and 80% productivity tool. When I am conducting trainings using DiSC, it is all about helping teams really understand themselves, one another, and learn simple behaviors that can create effective relationships at work.
Two things set Working Genius apart:
- Simplicity
- “Applied to work” – the art of getting things done
This tool and model really come alive when an entire team can:
- Embrace their areas of Genius
- Tap into one another’s talents to be successful
Working Genius:
- Helps teams get more done in less time with higher degrees of fulfillment and improved morale.
- Provides a language and framework for how we all fit together in the process of getting work done.
Sometimes people feel frustrated, underutilized, or misunderstood at work. Teams can experience failure or feel stuck because they don’t know how to tap into the Geniuses of those around them.
Working Genius has the potential to solve these issues and transform how you work together.

Her idea stemmed from a desire to enjoy candy without compromising dental health.
