What does "Spring Cleaning" look like in leadership?

It's finally spring in the United States! The flowers are blooming, the temperatures are getting warmer and the we signs of life all around us. This time of the year makes most people think about the well-loved (and sometimes dreaded) task of "spring cleaning". Spring cleaning, as a leader, is not so much about doing more. It is about clearing space so you can lead with more clarity, energy, and intention.

It means stepping back and asking:

  • Where have I drifted into autopilot?
  • What needs to be reset, simplified, adjusted, or let go?

Strong leadership is not just about adding strategies. It is about removing what is unnecessary

3 areas to "clean" this season:

1. Clear Mental Clutter: Leaders carry a lot. Decisions, responsibilities, and constant pressure to perform.

But not everything deserves equal space in your mind.

Ask yourself:

  • What am I overthinking?
  • What can I simplify or decide once and move on from?
  • Where do I need clearer boundaries?

Clarity creates calm. And calm leaders make better decisions.

2. Clean up priorities: It is easy to start the year with focus and slowly drift into doing everything.

Spring is your checkpoint.

  • Are your daily actions aligned with your biggest goals?
  • Have you taken on too much?
  • What can you delegate, delay, or remove?

Leadership is not about being busy. It is about being productive.

3. Reset relationships and communication: Unspoken tension, misalignment, or lack of clarity can quietly impact a team.

Spring is a great time to:

  • revisit expectations
  • have conversations you have been avoiding
  • reconnect with your team in a more intentional way

Clear communication builds trust. And trust strengthens everything.

Spring cleaning is not just about getting organized. It is about creating space for what matters most.

The same is true in leadership.

When you remove the noise, the pressure, and the unnecessary weight, you lead with more clarity, confidence, and purpose.

This season, do not just add more to your plate of responsibilities.

Clear the space to lead better.

Leadership Spotlight: Aiden Wilkins

This month, our leadership spotlight is on an incredible 9-year-old named Aiden Wilkins. Aiden is making history as the youngest student to take a class at Ursinus College. What makes his story so meaningful is not only his extraordinary ability, but also his sense of purpose. Aiden already has a vision for how he wants to use his gifts to help other children one day, and that kind of clarity is something leaders of any age can learn from. His story is a beautiful reminder that purpose, passion, and curiosity can shape a remarkable path.
